EXEMPTION FROM CUSTOMS-DUTIES AND SALES TAX ON IMPORT OF GIFTS RECEIVED BY THE MEMBERS OF AN OFFICIAL DELEGATION OF PAKISTAN VISITING ABROAD
Notification No. S.R.O. 847(I)/80, dated 9th August, 1980.--In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969) and section 7 of the Sales Tax Act, 1951 (III of 1951), the Federal Government is pleased to exempt the gifts received by the members of an official delegation of Pakistan visiting abroad from the payment of the whole of customs-duties and sales tax chargeable thereon provided that the recipient at the time of arrival shall submit an undertaking to the customs authorities concerned to the effect:-
that the receipt of the gift will be reported to the appropriate Government agency; and
that the gift will be surrendered to the Cabinet Division and retained only to such extent, in such manner and on payment of such of such price as may be determined according to the procedure for the acceptance of gifts and their disposal laid down by that Division.
