Exemption from Customs-duties and Slaes Tax on Certain Goods Imported by a Foreign Press Corresponde

EXEMPTION FROM CUSTOMS-DUTIES AND SALES TAX ON CERTAIN GOODS IMPORTED BY A FOREIGN PRESS CORRESPONDENTS Notification No. S.R.O. 143(I)/80, dated 5th February, 1980.-- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969), and sub-section (1) of section 7 of the Sales Tax Act, 1951(III of 1951), the Federal Government is pleased to exempt from customs-duties and sales tax the following goods imported into Pakistan by a foreign press correspondent resident in Pakistan subject to the conditions that these goods shall under no circumstances be sold or otherwise disposed of in Pakistan and shall be re-exported by such correspondent, namely:- A new car every five years alongwith reasonable quantities of spare parts, the cost of the car and the spare parts thereof being borne by the Head Office of the News Agency to which the foreign correspondent belong; and personal belongings and other household effects including reasonable number of refrigerators and air-conditioners every four years. 2. This Notification shall be deemed to have taken effect on the 12th October, 1976.
