EXEMPTION FROM CUSTOMS DUTY AND SALES TAX ON IMPORT OF COMPONENTS OF AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLES BY PAKISTANI NATIONALS RESIDING ABROAD 17Notification No. S.R.O. 496(I)/85, dated 23rd May, 1985.--In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969), sub-section (1) and (2) of section 7 of the Sales Tax Act, 1951, (III of 1951), the Federal Government is pleased to exempt components of such automotive vehicles as specified in column 2 of the table below from so much of the customs-duties and are in excess of the rates specified against each in column 3 of that table and the whole of sales tax chargeable thereon when imported by Pakistani nationals residing abroad out of their on foreign exchange earnings under the baggage or gift schemes in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Commerce Order No. S.R.O. 597(I)/84, dated the 5th July, 1984, and routed through the recognised assemblers of vehicles for local manufacturing in accordance with the provisions of this Ministry's Notification No. S.R.O. 495(I)/84, dated the 14th June, 1984. 2. This Notification shall take effect on the date of its issue. TABLE S.
