EXEMPTION FROM CUSTOMS DUTY AND SALES TAX ON IMPORT OF EMBARYO TRANSPLANT TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT AND MEDICINES OR CHEMICALS Notification No.S.R.O.440(I)/87, dated 4th June, 1987, In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969), and sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 7 of the Sales Tax Act, 1951 (III of1951), the Federal Government is pleased to exempt from the whole of customs duties and sales tax chargeable thereon such Embryo Transplant Technology equipment and medicines or chemicals specified in the table below as are not manufactured locally and are imported by a unit of dairy farming or Livestock Farm subject to the following conditions; namely the importer shall, at the time of importation of equipment and medicines or chemicals, furnish a bond to abide by the conditions laid down in this Notification failing which he shall pay the amount of customs duties and sales tax exempted under this Notification and make payment of any penalties that may be imposed by the Collector in this behalf; the equipment shall be installed and used in the approved dairy unit for which these have been imported and will not be sold or otherwise disposed of or utilized for purposes other than those for which these are imported; the importer shall produce, within six months from the date of import thereof, a certificate in the form set out below issued y the Assistant Collector, Customs and Central Excise, within whose jurisdiction the unit's located to the effect that such equipment has been installed and used in the importing unit of dairy industry; the capital equipment will be imported in the form of a complete set; the medicines intended to be imported against this concession will be subject to clearance and registration by the Ministry of Health under the Drugs Act, 1976' and the importer-cum-user of embryo transplant equipment, medicines and chemicals will deep a proper account of import-port and use of these goods which will be produced before the customs officers not below the rank of Assistant Collector as and when demanded.
