GOVERNMENT OF PAKSITAN MINISTRY OF FINANCE, ECONOMIC AFFAIRS, STATISTICS AND REVENUE (REVENUE DIVISION) **** Islamabad, the 11th June, 2008 NOTIFICAITON (SALES TAX) S.R.O. 547(I)/2008:- In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 30 and 31 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and section 29 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005, the Federal Government is pleased to appoint the Director Generals, Collectors, Additional Collectors, Cost Accountants, Deputy Collector, Assistant Collectors, Superintendents, Senior Auditors, Deputy Superintendents, Auditors and Inspectors of Sales Tax and Federal Excise, to be the officers of Sales Tax and Federal Excise for the offices specified in column (2) of the table below in respect of the areas, or as the cases may be, cases specified in column (3) of the said table, to exercise such powers and discharge such duties as are conferred on such officers under aforesaid Acts and the rules made there-under, namely:- TABLE S.No. Office Area/Cases (1) (2) (3) 1. Regional Tax Office, The areas comprising the Peshawar province of the North West Frontier (excluding the former civil division of Hazara) as well as the provincially administered tribal areas thereof and the Federally administered Tribal area. 3. Regional Tax Office, The areas comprising former Abbottabad Civil Division of Hazara i.e. Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram and Kohistan Districts.

4. Regional Tax Office, The areas included in the Islamabad Islamabad Capital Territory and the Northern Areas. 5. Regional Tax Office, The areas falling within the Sialkot Civil Districts of Sialkot, Narowal and Gujrat of Province of Punjab. 6. Regional Tax Office, The areas falling within the Gujranwala Civil Districts of Gujranwala and Hafizabad of Province of Punjab. 7. Regional Tax Office, The areas falling within the Lahore Civil Division of Lahore of Province of Punjab. 8. Regional Tax Office, Civil Divisions of Hyderabad, Hyderabad Mirpurkhas and Districts of Nawab Shah and Noshero Feroze 9. Regional Tax Office, Civil Divisions of Larkana Sukkur and Sukkur excluding Districts of Nawab Shah and Noshero Feroze 10. Regional Tax Office, The areas falling within the Karachi former Civil Division of Karachi of Province of Sindh. 12. Regional Tax Office, The areas falling with the Quetta Province of Balochistan, including the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas thereof. 13. Khan, Lodhran, Okara, Sahiwal, Pak Pattan, Vehari and Bahawalnagar of Province of Punjab. 14. Large Taxpayers Unit, The cases relating to the Karachi registered persons notified to be falling within its jurisdiction. 15. Large Taxpayers Unit, The cases relating to the Lahore registered persons notified to be falling within its jurisdiction. 16. Large Taxpayers Unit, The cases relating to the Islamabad registered persons notified to be falling within its jurisdiction. Provided that the persons registered with the Large Taxpayers Units shall by virtue of their registrations fall outside the geographical jurisdiction of the respective Regional Tax Offices; Provided further that the Cost Accountants, Senior Auditors and Auditors posted in the Federal Board of Revenue Islamabad shall be the officers of Sales Tax and Federal Excise for the whole of Pakistan and shall perform such functions as are assigned to them in this behalf.
