Draft amendments in the Customs Reward Rules, Role of other LEAs

GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN (REVENUE DIVISION) FEDERAL BOARD OF REVENUE ***** NOTIFICATION Islamabad, the 20th June, 2022. cAk S.R.O. 1 (1)12022.- The following draft of certain further amendments in the Customs Rules, 2001, which the Federal Board of Revenue proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by section 219 read with section 202B of the Customs of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969), is hereby published for information of all persons likely to be affected thereby and, as required under sub-section (3A) of section 219 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969), notice is hereby given that objections or suggestions thereon, if any, may for consideration of the Board be sent within fifteen days of publication of the draft amendments in the official Gazette. Objections or suggestions received from any person, before the expiry of the aforesaid period, shall be taken into consideration by the Federal Board of Revenue, namely:- DRAFT AMENDMENTS In the aforesaid Rules,- (1) in rule 3,- in sub-rule (1), in clause (a), after the semicolon the word "and" shall be omitted; in clause (b), for the full stop at the end, a semicolon shall be substituted and thereafter the word "and" shall be added; and after clause (b), amended as aforesaid, the following new clause shall be added, namely:- "(c) officers and officials of other law enforcement agencies who assist Customs officers and officials or are actually instrumental in seizure of smuggled goods and vehicles for their meritorious conduct in such cases only after realization of part or whole of the duty and taxes involved in such cases. The respective Collectorate of Customs shall issue certificate in this regard and officer and officials of the other law enforcement agencies shall receive the requisite amount from their respective department". fC.No.7(3)AS&C/09-Ptl.
