GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN MINISTRY OF FINANCE & ECONOMIC AFFAIRS *** Islamabad, the 8th September, 1998. NOTIFICATION (CUSTOMS) S. R. O. 962(I)/98.- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Customs Act,. 1969 (IV of 1969), the Federal Government is pleased to exempt the customs-duty leviable on ground handling equipment, service and operation vehicles, catering equipment and fuel trucks, if imported by domestic airlines, subject to the following conditions, namely:- (i). the importer submits a written undertaking to the satisfaction of the Collector of Customs, that the goods impirted- (a) shall be exclusively used for the ground handling of the aircraft and for providing service to the passengers inside the international airports (Ramp Area) in Pakistan; (b) shal not be removed from one airport to another without prior permission of the Collector of Customs; and (c) shall not be sold of disposed of in Pakistan within seven years of the date of import except on payment of dull duty/taxes as leviable at the time of import; (ii) the Collector of Customs shall enter each bill of entry in a ground Equipment Register in the form prescribed at Annex and shall allot a G.E. Number to each bill entry; (iii) the “Ground Equipment Number” shall be printed or otherwise distinctly exhibited by the importer on each equipment clearly and indelibly immediately after clearance before this is put into use; (iv) the importing agency shall, at the close of every financial year, submit before the Collector a statement in duplicate showing a complete list of ground handling equipment held by them upto the end of that financial year and the equipment sold or disposed of in Pakistan shifted to other airports inside Pakistan , during that financial year; and (v) On demand from an appropriate officer of customs, the importing agency shall produce the relevant bill of entry of the equipment at any time for verification. EXPLANATION:- “Ramp area means “the area starting from where the aircraft are parked upto the terminal building”.
